Boys Hope Girls Hope of Baltimore is a privately funded non-profit that provides at-risk children with a stable home, positive environment and high quality education.  The boys there had selflessly volunteered the girls to TV's "Extreme Home Makeover", who were rewarded with a contemporary new home with all the fixin's last summer.

GMDA decided the boys deserved a little nicer place to hang their hats as well. Volunteers descended upon the Boys Hope half of Boys Hope Girls Hope  in early January and transformed a traditional space into a bright, exciting and contemporary space the young men could enjoy.

Transformations included painting all walls and trim work on the lower level. Imaginative use of symbols and inspirational sayings stenciled in the computer room emphasize education.

A "steel plate" effect made of plaster and glaze frames a painted chalkboard used in the gym to convey stats or other communiques between the boys.

A stenciled starburst pattern with holographic details livens up the television room.

A graffiti inspired mural filled with bright colors, inspirational words and images enhances the game room, with holographic foil in one of the  eyes !

Many thanks to all who volunteered:  Mary Boquard, Dee Cunningham, Madeline Davis, Thea Holmes, Rebecca Hotop, Michele Kelling, Nancy Levin, Rita Melnick, Leslie Nesbitt, Suzy Quader, Cathy Rinn, Alison Roy-Harrison and Chris Woodruff.  Good, solid work ladies!

A thank you to GMDA  from Boys Hope Girls Hope Director Marcia Meehan was sent to all who participated:
